Research Support

The Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation (PME) Unit serves as an integrated institutional support, governance and coordination framework at CSIR-IGIB. The unit facilitates strategic planning, project governance, translational research support, innovation management, outreach, digital infrastructure, human resource coordination and stakeholder engagement across diverse scientific and administrative domains of the Institute.

The activities of the unit are aligned with the broader CSIR mandate of promoting translational research, technology deployment, innovation-led development and research utilization for societal and industrial impact.

Functional Areas

PME vertical facilitates planning, coordination, monitoring and administrative management of institutional research and development activities.

Major activities include:
  • Management and coordination of Sponsored Research Projects, Consultancy Projects and CSR-supported initiatives
  • Project appraisal, milestone tracking and deliverable monitoring
  • Facilitation of externally funded and collaborative R&D projects
  • Budget utilization review and compliance coordination
  • Preparation of project reports and utilization documentation
  • Support for interdisciplinary and multi-institutional research programs
  • Maintenance of institutional research utilization data and reporting systems
  • Facilitation of project review and monitoring mechanisms

The unit supports implementation of institutional and CSIR guidelines related to project governance, monitoring, translational research and research utilization.

The Business Development vertical promotes translational partnerships and commercialization of institutional knowledgebase through strategic engagement with industry, start-ups, government agencies and innovation ecosystems.

Major activities include:
  • Facilitation of industry-academia collaborations and strategic partnerships
  • Support for sponsored and collaborative R&D programs
  • Consultancy and technical service coordination
  • Technology transfer and licensing facilitation
  • Innovation and start-up ecosystem support
  • Preparation of business development proposals, concept notes and partnership documents
  • Stakeholder engagement with industries, funding agencies and translational partners
  • Support for knowledge alliances, commercialization initiatives and market-driven R&D activities

The unit contributes towards strengthening translational research pathways, technology deployment and innovation-led partnerships in alignment with CSIR technology transfer frameworks.

The IPR & Technology Management vertical supports identification, protection, management and utilization of institutional intellectual property and research knowledgebase.

Major activities include:
  • Facilitation of patent, trademark, copyright and industrial design protection
  • Prior art assessment and patent analytics
  • IP portfolio management and documentation
  • Support for technology transfer and licensing activities
  • Drafting and review of IP-related clauses in agreements
  • Technology landscaping and innovation support
  • Coordination of IP awareness and capacity-building activities
  • Facilitation of commercialization and knowledgebase utilization initiatives

The unit supports institutional compliance and implementation of IP protection and technology management frameworks under CSIR guidelines.

The Outreach, Science Communication & Dissemination vertical coordinates institutional communication, public engagement and dissemination activities of CSIR-IGIB. The unit facilitates communication of ongoing research and institutional activities through preparation, writing and editing of scientific articles, research highlights, reports, presentations and digital communication material for diverse audiences.

Major activities include:
  • Development and management of institutional websites and digital platforms
  • Content creation and social media management
  • Preparation of scientific communication and dissemination material
  • Science outreach and public engagement initiatives
  • Organization of scientific workshops and interaction programs for school students
  • Delivery of popular science lectures and awareness activities
  • Development of educational outreach resources including videos, comics and digital learning content
  • Support for media communication and institutional visibility initiatives

The unit also contributes towards national outreach initiatives including CSIR-JIGYASA and related programs aimed at promoting scientific temper and public understanding of science.

The IT, Network Administration & Digital Infrastructure vertical supports enterprise-wide digital infrastructure, institutional computing systems and technology-enabled research operations at CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology. The unit manages enterprise-scale computer networks spanning multiple institutional sites, with support for secure connectivity, digital communication systems, server infrastructure and integrated IT operations.

Major activities include:
  • Network administration and enterprise-wide IT infrastructure management
  • Management of multi-site institutional computer networks
  • Datacenter infrastructure administration and maintenance
  • Server, storage and digital systems support
  • Website, intranet and institutional digital platform management
  • Implementation of cybersecurity and information management systems
  • Support for digital workflows, databases and e-governance solutions
  • Technical support for institutional research and administrative activities

The unit also contributes towards strengthening institutional computational capabilities through support for high-performance computing (HPC), data-intensive research infrastructure and advanced digital systems required for genomics, bioinformatics and data-centric research activities.

The Human Resource Management vertical supports institutional coordination related to project manpower and associated administrative processes.

Major activities include:
  • Facilitation of project staff recruitment processes
  • Onboarding and administrative coordination support
  • Project manpower documentation and HR-related assistance
  • Coordination support for interdisciplinary project teams
  • Facilitation of institutional capacity-building and professional development activities

The unit also supports training, awareness and skill development initiatives related to project management, innovation management, intellectual property and research administration.

The Research Legal Documentation vertical facilitates preparation, review and coordination of institutional and research-related agreements and regulatory documentation.

Major activities include:
  • Preparation and coordination of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs)
  • Memoranda of Agreement (MoAs)
  • Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
  • Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs)
  • Research collaboration and consultancy agreements
  • Review and coordination of institutional legal documentation
  • Support for regulatory compliance and due diligence processes associated with research collaborations and partnerships

The unit facilitates structured and compliant institutional engagements with academic, industrial, governmental and international stakeholders.
